Helmets
Any AS/NZ1698 (Australian/New Zealand Standard) or better motorcycle/car helmet is OK.
However, there were some very important changes to the eligibility of helmets within Motorsport in Australia a while back that you may not be aware of. In other words, your old helmet may no longer be acceptable for competition use.

CAMS (Confederation of Australian Motorsport) have stated that helmets made to the older AS1698 standard are no longer acceptable for competition use. Helmets made to the newer AS/NZ1698 standard are acceptable. They have also stated that helmets made to BS6658-85 A/FR (British Standard) are still acceptable for competition use for a little while longer.

ANDRA (Australian National Drag Racing Association) have stated that the only acceptable helmets for competition use are helmets made to AS/NZ1698. Helmets made to the older AS1698 standard or the BS6658-85 A/FR (British Standard) are no longer acceptable for competition use.
The helmet should be in good overall condition, with very minimal scratching, the head straps and padding free from rips and tears, and the sticker showing the Safety Standard clearly identifiable and legible.
If you are driving a convertible with the top down, you must be wearing a closed face helmet.

Long sleeve shirts
Cotton is best here from a fire retardent point of view, and should be comfortable to wear whilst drivng. It may also need to provide some extra warmth in Winter, and be cool in Summer.
Popular choices are a zip up hoodie or track suit top, or a cotton work shirt. You can always throw on your long sleeve top just before driving, and take it off again after you've finished your run.

Long pants or jeans
Jeans or cargo pants are the most popular choices because they're usually cotton which is best from a fire retardent point of view, and they're comfortable enough to wear all year round.

Closed in shoes
Sneakers and actual driving shoes are the most common choices here. Whatever the shoe, it should be comfortable, completely closed in, and give you good pedal feel whilst driving. Generally the closer fitting the shoe the better pedal feel you'll have.
